Mathematics and Climate

This course explores the basic mathematics describing processes that regulate the climate of the Earth. The course covers climate history, energy balance models, dynamical systems, the Snowball Earth Hypothesis, Earth System Models, El Nino, carbon cycle models, ocean and atmospheric circulation models. During the course, students will learn to develop their own climate models using Python. See The Bulletin for more detailed course information. 

This course is co-taught with Prof. Malcolm Adams (Mathematics).
